THE LOCATION The property overlooks Lake Maggiore opposite the harbor of Belgirate. The monumental villa is located in an English-style park with centuries-old plants of great value. HISTORY The prestigious villa was built in 1780 by the Beretta family, who later sold it to Domenico Pino, an Italian general under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte. It then passed through several stages, first to the Fontana counts of Milan, then to the Biscaretti di Ruffia and finally to the Milanese publisher Emilio Treves, whose name it still bears today. Thanks to its cultural interest, the villa became a meeting point for the intellectuals of the time. So, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Edmondo De Amicis, Giovanni Verga, and many others used to meet here. THE GROUND FLOOR The ground floor of the historic villa is divided into two main areas: the representative and the informal area. The representative area has a large hall with a view of the lake, a living room, and a large dining room. The informal area consists of the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, a bathroom for the disabled, and another bathroom. This area opens onto the garden with the swimming pool. The elevator serves the first three floors. THE FIRST FLOOR The first floor is dedicated to the sleeping area and has a suite with a large living room, kitchen, bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom. It continues with four bedrooms, three of which have their own bathroom and walk-in closet. On the back, there is another bathroom. THE SECOND FLOOR On the second floor, there are 6 rooms with their own bathroom, one of which is for the disabled. THIRD FLOOR On the third floor, there are technical rooms, storage rooms, and three bathrooms, as well as a large open room and a side room.
